Resilience in the Desert - Arizona Women in Agriculture

Michelle Miller (@FarmBabe)

Arizona Farm Bureau and the Arizona Department of Agriculture are teaming up to present the 23rd Annual Arizona Women in Agriculture conference July 11-12 at the Westward Look Resort in Tucson.

The two-day conference will offer a lot of exciting new insights, an exchanging of ideas, and stories of perseverance. This conference is an ideal opportunity for women working in agriculture to network with each other and learn about business developments they can take back to their farms.

Michelle Miller, aka the Farm Babe, will be this year’s featured speaker! Miller was once a big city girl who moved to a farm in rural Iowa for love. She now works to debunk the myths of agriculture and has been featured in Forbes as one of the most followed and reputable voices in agriculture.

Miller will share her personal journey - from an urban trend influenced consumer to one of agriculture’s biggest voices on social media today. She also will address how people can better bridge the gap of modern farming with their respective communities, and offer communication tips designed to inspire others to speak up and celebrate agriculture. After the conference, Miller will stick around for a meet and greet and answer questions.

Conference highlights include a panel discussion with farmers sharing their stories of troubled times they’ve faced and how they persevered through it. Attendees also will have access to several workshops, including interactive business discussions and a stress management workshop led by Sherry Saylor, American Farm Bureau Women’s Leadership Chair.

The sponsors of this year’s conference include Bayer, Dairy Council of Arizona, the University of Arizona College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, and Hickman’s Family Farms.
